The basics
A Little Random is made by Harley Webb Futures Pty Ltd (ABN 64 703 411 705), trading as A Little Random, Australia ("we", "us"). Contact: support@alittlerandom.com.
By using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
You must be 16 or older to use A Little Random. If you're under 18, check with a parent or guardian before you subscribe or buy anything. The app contains mild, censored swearing.
Apple's and Google's own terms also apply to anything you download or buy through their stores. If these terms and theirs disagree about the store itself, theirs win.
Your subscription
A Little Random needs a subscription. There is no free version.
- Free trial: new subscribers get 7 days free. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your plan starts and you're charged. We'll remind you 2 days before it ends, if you allow notifications.
- Plans and prices:
| Plan | Australia and New Zealand | USA | UK |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | A$4.99 | US$4.99 | £3.99 |
| Yearly | A$39.99 | US$34.99 | £29.99 |
- Renewal: your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. The price shown in the app at the time is the one you pay. If we raise the price, Apple or Google will tell you first and, where the law requires, ask you to agree.
- Cancelling: cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep the app until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription.
- Refunds: Apple or Google take the payment, so refund requests go to them, under their rules. We can't issue subscription refunds ourselves. This doesn't affect your rights under consumer law.
- Favourites slot packs: one-off purchases of 25 extra Favourites slots (A$2.99 / US$2.99 / £2.49), up to 10 packs. They're yours to keep, even if your subscription ends, and come back with Restore Purchases on a new phone. If a store refunds a pack, its slots are removed.
If your subscription ends
- The app locks. You can't see your cards, boards or favourites until you subscribe again.
- We keep your streak, Monthly Boards, favourites and badges on your phone for 30 days. Come back within 30 days and everything is where you left it.
- The first time you open the app after day 30, it wipes them and you start again. This can't be undone.
- Favourites slot packs you bought are not lost. Restore Purchases brings them back.
- If you allow notifications, we'll remind you on days 1, 7, 21 and 28 after it ends.
Our content, and sharing it
The daily messages, facts, greetings, trivia questions, artwork, sounds, the platypus, Random Panda, the logo and the name A Little Random belong to us or the people who license them to us.
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices while your subscription is active.
Sharing is encouraged. Use the Share button to post a card or badge on social media, in messages or by email, for personal, non-commercial use. Please keep the A Little Random name and logo on what you share.
What you can't do
- Sell, print or put our content on products (merch is ours to make), or use it in ads or another business.
- Copy the messages, facts or artwork in bulk, or collect them with scripts or bots.
- Copy, change, reverse engineer or get around any part of the app, including the subscription.
- Use the app to break the law or to harass anyone.
If you break these terms, we can suspend or end your use of the app. Where the law allows, your store subscription isn't refunded in that case.
Merch
- Merch is sold in the app and paid for through Shopify's checkout, separately from your subscription. Apple and Google aren't involved.
- Each item is printed to order by our printing partner, Printful, with the Pearl of Wisdom you choose. Prices and postage are shown before you pay.
- Colours on screen are a guide; printed colours can vary slightly.
- Returns, refunds and faulty items are covered by our merch returns and refunds policy.
The app as it is
- It's meant to be funny. The daily messages are made up and deadpan. They aren't advice, facts or opinions about anyone.
- Facts can be wrong. We check the Monthly Board facts and trivia questions, but we can't promise every one is right or up to date.
- Things change. We may add, change or remove features and content. We'll try to keep the app running all the time, but can't promise it will never be down or have bugs.
- Backups are your phone's job. Your progress is kept on your phone. If your phone is lost, reset or not backed up, we can't recover it.
Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law, New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act, the UK's Consumer Rights Act 2015, and the laws of your US state.
Our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as lost data or lost time. Where we can limit our liability, it is limited to the amount you paid us (or Apple or Google for us) in the 12 months before the problem.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the new terms.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If you live in New Zealand, the UK or the USA, you also keep the protection of your own local laws and can bring a claim in your local courts.
